Denver Public Health Communicable Disease Data Collection -
Faculty and staff of the UW Clinical Informatics Research Group have developed a web-based case reporting system that allows public health practitioners to use wireless PDAs to enter cases directly into the Colorado State Communicable Disease reporting system.
Syndromic Surveillance Information Collection - King County (SSIC-KC) for Bioterrorism Detection -
Visit level data on patients presenting with influenza-like illnesses, or other syndromes which may be related to bioterrorism agents, is collected from three emergency departments and nine primary care clinics. Epidemiologists at Public Health - Seattle & King County analyze the data for variances in patterns of diagnoses, volume, etc., as part of the county wide real-time disease surveillance system.

EINET Draft Table Top SARS preparedness exercise -
We are working with APEC Emerging Infections Network to enable Computer Supported collaborative work. This could expedite preparedness for the next SARS or global epidemic. This demonstration project seeks to give collaborators a view of how online tools could facilitate the gathering and customization of materials for a tabletop exercise to meet the needs of various regions.
Survey Markup Language (SuML) -
SuML attempts to capture the questions, acceptable answers, and logic associated with a survey. It is one piece of a larger system for posing a survey and capturing the resulting data set.
eHealthSurveys Applications Evaluation -
Currently, there are no benchmarking tools that exist for users to evaluate and identify applications appropirate for their web-based health survey. This project intends to identify key features that should be found in most web-based health survey applications and propose a methodology to assess eHealth survey applications.

Cell-PREVEN: A real-time surveillance system for adverse events using cell phones in Peru -
Dr. Walter H. Curioso is a physician from the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia and also a current MPH candidate at the University of Washington. Using cell phone technology based on the infrastructure of Voxiva Inc., the aim of this study is to develop an interactive computer system for real-time collection and transmission of adverse events (e.g.,vomiting, diarrhea) related with metronidazole administration as presumptive treatment for vaginosis in female sex workers.
